Resumen
CARDENAS, Georgina. Parity campaigns in México City´s City Halls: Gender Political Agenda, Challenges and Contrast. Rev. interdiscip. estud. género Col. Méx. [online]. 2019, vol.5, e378. Epub 15-Feb-2020. ISSN 2395-9185. https://doi.org/10.24201/reg.v5i0.378.
The central question of this investigation is if both female and male candidates for Mexico City’s city halls proposed a gender agenda on their campaigns. To achieve this, an ethnographical work was made during the 2017-2018 electoral process; political parties’ election platforms were revised; the campaign’s proposals concerned with gender issues and women − which were included within the initiative Voto Informado (Informed Vote) − were identified and, also, questionnaires were applied to candidates. Only 7% of the political programs mention something related with the words “gender” or “women”. This article highlights, as well, the difficulties in the candidature and, finally, contrasts the campaign’s proposals from female and male candidates.
