Abstract

This text presents the results of the research: “Environmental culture in rural education: landscape, history and traditional knowledge of the yokel territory”, which was conducted between 2016 and 2019. We investigated the environmental culture of the northwest of São Paulo State, Brazil, from the perspective of its sustainable development.

Objective:

The general objective of the research was to investigate the landscape, history and traditional knowledge of the yokel area, and the specific objective was to develop the education of youth and adults.

Methodology:

Regarding the theoretical and methodological reference, work projects has been used.

Results:

The results were the articulation between different areas of knowledge, such as agroecology, soil health and sustainability.

Limitations:

What limits projects like this is the withdrawal of funds and investments from the areas of education, science, technology and innovation.

Conclusions:

This articulation between different areas of knowledge, made possible the experience of new values and the implementation of collective actions, besides the increase in schooling linked to social and professional training that has provided new learning.
