LEON-BALDERRAMA, Jorge Inés; CARRAZCO-ESCALANTE, José Crisóforo  y  LEYVA-LEON, Eduardo. Topology and some key characteristics of the Shrimp Aquaculture Knowledge Network developed in Ahome, Sinaloa. Estud. soc. Rev. aliment. contemp. desarro. reg. [online]. 2020, vol.30, n.56, e201032.  Epub 06-Dic-2021. ISSN 2395-9169.  https://doi.org/10.24836/es.v30i56.1032.

Objective:

To know the conformation and main characteristics of the social networks of knowledge of shrimp aquaculture in the north of Sinaloa, from the case of the leading municipality in production.

Methodology:

The information was obtained through an own survey applied to a sample of 58 shrimp farmers located in the municipality of Ahome, Sinaloa; This information was processed using the tools of social networks analysis (SNA) for the construction of graphs and the estimation of global measures of the network.

Results:

The study manages to graphically represent the knowledge network of Ahome shrimp farmers and appreciate that it has a star-like structure, where almost all producers are mainly and directly connected to two central points, a government health agency and a civil association that promotes technology transfer.

Limitations:

The reconstruction of the network, in its structure or composition, is carried out based on a limited sample size.

Conclusions:

The centralization of the knowledge network has important implications in terms of technological learning, assimilation of new knowledge and technologies, adoption and diffusion of technological innovations; the positioning of individual actors and the way in which they are connected to other actors in the network also have important implications in terms of innovation and technological adoption.
