Resumen

GALAVIZ MIRANDA, Cuitlahuac Alfonso. Seventies counterculture in northwestern Mexico: the case of the Azules of Hermosillo. Iztapalapa. Rev. cienc. soc. humanid. [online]. 2023, vol.44, n.95, pp.201-222.  Epub 11-Sep-2023. ISSN 2007-9176.  https://doi.org/10.28928/ri/952023/aot4/galavizmirandac.

This article focuses on the study of the Azules, a collective close to the hippie movement and counterculture that was active in Hermosillo, Sonora during the seventies. The objective is to provide elements to answer the questions why a collective like this was created in Hermosillo? who were the Azules? and what united them? To do so, I use the outsiders perspective or sociology of deviance developed by Howard Becker. According to the author, all societies create rules that, in theory, must be followed by those who wish to be accepted in their internal dynamics. Those who break such rules (or supposedly do so) are usually considered marginal or outsiders. In this article I propose that the sociology of deviance is useful for analyzing the Azules because most of their practices did not respect the dominant values of the context in which they acted, as will be seen.
