Abstract
ROMO FEITO, Fernando. Minerva's owl: hermeneutics, today. Iztapalapa. Rev. cienc. soc. humanid. [online]. 2020, vol.41, n.89, pp.29-46. Epub Oct 07, 2020. ISSN 2007-9176. https://doi.org/10.28928/ri/892020/atc2/romofeitof.
This paper is conceived as a reflection on the position of literary studies in today's culture, characterized as the epoch that has broken all ties with things. A second step is to place hermeneutics in the difference between theory and literary history, which are now part of the aforementioned studies. The third step states that, against the cultural studies, the understanding of literature must be aesthetic, which necessarily implies the longue durée. Precisely, within hermeneutics, the medieval quadruplex sensus provides a suitable method for understanding the great stories, to which we propose to return. Finally, a note on the educational dimension.
