Abstract

GALAN VELEZ, Rosa Margarita. Listening comprehension: Assessment and learning. Iztapalapa. Rev. cienc. soc. humanid. [online]. 2015, vol.36, n.79, pp.31-46. ISSN 2007-9176.  https://doi.org/10.28928/revistaiztapalapa/792015/atc2/galanvelezrm.

Listening comprehension is fundamental in the processes of socialization, as well as in the academic and professional development; nevertheless, in Mexico, teachers do not explicitly teach it in the classroom, and its evaluation is just beginning: the Test for Linguistic Skills in Spanish (EXHALING, for its abbreviation in Spanish) offered its first performance indicators. In the paper, based on the results of EXHALING, it will be exposed how listening could play a protagonist roll in college achievement, as well as in Spanish learning strengthening.

Keywords : oral communication; listening development; literacies; didactic; linguistic competence; academic language.
