Abstract

BUNGE VIVIER, Diego. Determinants of the occupational mobility of immigrants in Spain. Iztapalapa. Rev. cienc. soc. humanid. [online]. 2013, vol.34, n.75, pp.85-114.  Epub Oct 22, 2019. ISSN 2007-9176.  https://doi.org/10.28928/ri/752013/atc4/bungevivierd.

This paper discusses the socioeconomic mobility of immigrants in Spain. It focuses on occupational mobility and labour market analysis, examining the characteristics of immigrants as well the context of reception. The analysis is empirical and quantitative, based on the National Immigrant Survey of Spain 2007. Results suggest that the success or failure of the incorporation and occupational development of immigrants depends on both their individual characteristics and the context at which they arrive.

Keywords : migration; socioeconomic mobility; labour market incorporation.
