ZAVALA-CRUZ, Joel et al. Geomorphological landscapes: framework for soil surveys in Tabasco, México. Ecosistemas y recur. agropecuarios [online]. 2016, vol.3, n.8, pp.161-171. ISSN 2007-901X.

Soil mapping contributes to the planning of agricultural and livestock systems; however, the level of recognition found in Mexico is outdated. The objective of this study was to update the map of geomorphological landscapes in the state of Tabasco and analyze its relation to soil groups. Based on the mapping of geomorphology, geology and soil, the analysis of topographic maps, orthophotomaps, digital elevation models of the INEGI and field verification, the state was zoned according to the geopedological approach. The state of Tabasco is located in three morphogenetic environments: the Southern Gulf Coastal Plains (SGCP), the Yucatán Peninsula (YP) and the Sierra de Chiapas and Guatemala (SCHG), which represent 81, 9.0 and 6.0 % of the state. These environments are subdivided into 12 geomorphological landscapes, including coastal terraces, plain marshes, active fluvial and inactive fluvial-deltaic plains in the SGCP. The geomorphological landscapes influence the geographical distribution of soil groups and the characteristics of the horizon la properties, diagnostic materials and qualifiers yers, that influence limiting factors for the agricultural and livestock capacities. The Arenosol, Solonchak, Histosol, Gleysol, Fluvisol and Vertisol soil groups are found in the plains; Alisol, Acrisol and Luvisol soil groups are found in the coastal terraces, hills and mountains on clastic rocks; Leptosol, Vertisol and Cambisol soil groups are found in karst landscapes.
