Abstract
BELTRAN-MORALES, Felix Alfredo et al. Effect of organic substrates on the growth of six varieties of jalapeño (Capsicum annuum L.). Ecosistemas y recur. agropecuarios [online]. 2016, vol.3, n.7, pp.143-149. ISSN 2007-901X.
A large number of vegetable producers interested in organic agriculture cannot participate in this market area due to the limited availability of organic compost able to meet the nutritional needs of the crops in the same manner as chemical, biological and ecological fertilizers. Three different fertilization sources were used in six jalapeno genotypes. The treatments were as follows: bovine manure, vermicompost, and a control sample with a chemical fertilizer. The genotypes were collected in northern Mexico; the crop handling was done in accordance to organic laws of the United States. The results showed that vermicompost supplied all the necessary nutrients for plant growth. The Euforia and Don Julio genotypes presented the largest growth and development in the assessed variables.
