Resumen

CHABLE-PASCUAL, Rosalva et al. Structure, diversity and use of species on home gardens of la Chontalpa, Tabasco, México. Ecosistemas y recur. agropecuarios [online]. 2015, vol.2, n.4, pp.23-39. ISSN 2007-901X.

In this study, we analyzed the structure, diversity and use of biodiversity of home gardens in three physiographic areas of La Chontalpa región, of Tabasco State. We worked in nine communities, preliminary surveys were conducted, this allowed us to find key informants and choosing the home gardens to work with, subsequently semi-structured interviews were applied to key informants. We used the Shannon-Wiener method to calcúlate the diversity Índex. Results show 330 plant species and 17 animal species. Homegardens size was variable, with the smaller one was of 200 m2 and the largest 20,000 m2. Age of home gardens varíes from one year in the Gustavo Diaz Ordaz community to 60 years in the Ignacio Zaragoza community. We observed three types of vegetation (vegetal stratification): trees, shrubs and herbaceous. We observed that homegardens are different in each physiographic area, this because of: limits, area, organization, vertical or horizontal structure, among others; but shows similarities between them, like common plants or animáis. The species of plants are used primarily for food, then for fuel production and last for ornamental reasons. Animáis of home gardens are mainly used for food.

Palabras llave : Floristic and faunistic diversity; traditional agroecosystems; phisiografics areas.
