This article deals with the discursive representations of the officials of the Judicial Power of the AMBA (Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires) in relation to citizenship and access to rights of South American migrants. Researching the officials’ point of view implies a way of approaching the understanding of intercultural relations. These are a type of social bond shaped by asymmetries and antagonisms that have run through the history of the Argentine Republic since its constitution as a nation state. In this paper, we focus on the groups of South American migrants, whose relevance was initially noticed in the sixties. The research adopted a qualitative approach and the technique used was the in-depth, individual and semi-structured interview. The data produced was processed and analyzed according to the pillars of the Grounded Theory. The working hypothesis holds that officials’ speeches are organized according to a set of moral and hegemonic codes that encourage social domination over the South American migrant collectives.
