Abstract

CORCUFF, Philippe. Towards a critical theory of democracy, between communication sciences and political philosophy: opinion, reason and emotions.Translated byGilberto Giménez. Cultura representaciones soc [online]. 2018, vol.13, n.25, pp.48-75. ISSN 2007-8110.  https://doi.org/10.28965/2018-25-02.

This research paper tries to clarify the relationships between the notions of opinion, reason and emotion from the prospective of a democratic renewal of critical theories. This is done in several stages from Platon’s Republic, Pierre Bourdieu’s sociology, Jacques Rancière’s democratic philosophy, Gabriel Tarde’s social science of opinion and various other sources which explore a humble and sensitive reason (Charles Péguy, Max Horkheimer and Theodor Adorno, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Geneviève Fraisse, the care theorists and Sophie Wahnich).

Keywords : communication; critical theory; emotion; opinion; political philosophy; reason.
