This paper integrates two methodological research experiences that have in common epistemologies of qualitative interpretation and the use of life stories as a tool of analysis. The purpose is to reflect on the dialectic between the individual and the social to understand socio-educational problems, such as professional identity and the teaching profession, articulating methodologies that address the study of the social, and institutional, linked to the biographical. In both studies our interest is to understand the educational action of pre-school and higher level teachers, respectively; as well as the influence of the individual in the social construction of their reality and vice versa, the influences of their sociocultural contexts that impact on their thoughts and mobilize their actions. It is a plurimetodology dialogue that covers several areas of influence of the practices of the teaching staff.
