Conversion is one of the basic themes in the study of religious change. However, this term has had tu many meanings and has there has been confusion on its references. To understand this the different uses of the concept of conversion from the social sciencies willl be shown. It is usefull to reconsider the problem by use of the term of religious mobility. this concept includes pauline conversion, spiritual searching, apostasy, cohabitation and regrouping for family motives. In this text, the model for religious movility is presented with examples of its aplication.
