Resumen

The text summarizes and discusses the main lines of continuation and questioning of Bourdieu's sociology in Europe, 10 years after his death. The author highlights three main lines: the first refers to the numerous controversies arising from his work The Distinction, which deals with cultural legitimacy and the function of culture in social stratification; the second has to do with the important furthering of his research on "State nobility", which deals with the political elite and the ruling class in France, but which today is also widespread in other European countries; the third outlines the research being carried out by an influential group of European researchers on "the social conditions of a rational dialogue in the social sciences throughout Europe", using Bourdieu's conceptual frame. It involves a series of meetings among intellectuals from different disciplines and nationalities, within the framework of the "Pierre Bourdieu" Organization.
