Frames and cities: from the order of discourse to action in situation The purpose of this article is to examine critically two theoretical perspectives -that nowadays enjoy wide acceptance - for the analysis of social movements: that of the "frames" of rebellious experience, developed principally by David Snow and his colleagues in the United States, and that of the grammar of the "cities", initially elaborated by Thévenot and Boltanski in France. The obstacles that both perspectives face, which are related fundamentally to the temptation of favoring the internal analysis of social movements discourse from an intellectual point of view are pointed out; it is also suggested that, to strengthen their heuristic potential, they should consider the contexts of rebellious action and be articulated to a more structural and attentive perspective to social differentiation.
