Resumen

BURBOA CHARIS, Vianey Ariadna; ORRANTIA LOPEZ, Miriam  y  ALVAREZ VALENCIA, Luis Humberto. Electron transfer via conductive materials and their impact on the anaerobic methane production. Entreciencias: diálogos soc. conoc. [online]. 2023, vol.11, n.25, e2585046.  Epub 11-Mar-2024. ISSN 2007-8064.  https://doi.org/10.22201/enesl.20078064e.2023.25.85046.

Purpose:

To review the scientific literature to assess the impact of carbon-based and metallic conductive materials during anaerobic digestion processes for methane production.

Methodological design:

A review of scientific literature to collect the information and data presented.

Results:

Analysis of the results of anaerobic digestion processes with different substrates and conductive materials, to identify the increase in methane production and yield, lag phase reduction, and production of intermediate producers.

Research limitations:

It focuses on the use of materials that promote the production of methane by anaerobic digestion.

Findings:

Conductive materials allow for increasing methane production and reducing the lag phase time, in addition to promoting the direct transfer of electrons between species during the digestion of simple and complex organic matter.
