Innovating in the provision of tourism services develops a diversified offer and adjusted to market trends; this work aims to describe the importance of lateral thinking techniques in the analysis of tourism business ideas; a qualitative paradigm research of cross-sectional empirical type is applied that, through the technique of direct observation, describes the importance of tools such as the so-called "six thinking hats" in group discussion, prior to undertaking. It is concluded that lateral thinking is important to promote creativity and innovation, since it develops in the entrepreneur competences for the integral management of tourism enterprises and decision making after having considered different perspectives.
