The aim of this text is to analyze how the ports in the coast of the Pacific in New Spain, since the Sixteenth Century, had different development in compare with the Atlantic Coasts. This situation gave them a little autonomy from the Spain authorities. To appreciate that is necessary to see the kind of navigations practiced in New Spain, local and offshore. In this way, we can see the importance of the maritime spaces in the New Spain.
