The new changing paradigm of the digital age offers to the public sector unique opportunities to innovate in the modernization of its management. The use of new technologies for data analysis offered by digitalization provides great potential to improve the design and implementation of innovative public programs and promotes new ways to evaluate them. Mexico is in an incipient process towards a new approach to impact assessment. There is a deficit in analysis of the development and impact of state-driven social policy.

This document presents an analysis of the methodology of the performance auditing carried out by the Superior Audit of the Federation in the evaluation of social policy; and, the methodological advantages posed using statistical software in data analysis as an alternative to evaluate of evidence-based impact. It is argued that the use of statistical software for data analysis such as ATLAS. IT, SPSS, STATA among others, are a viable, accessible, and innovative alternative to evaluate the impact of social policy. In this way, the goal is to contribute for performance audit to be supported by diverse and innovative technological and methodological tools to measure the impact that social programs have on social welfare.
