Resumen

BORRASTERO, Carina. Theoretical elements for structuring a model for the socioeconomic analysis of the growth of industrial sectors with innovative profiles. Intersticios sociales [online]. 2018, n.15, pp.9-48. ISSN 2007-4964.

The general objective of this paper is to propose a theoretical model for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the growth of industries with innovative profile from a socioeconomic perspective. The study integrates specific contributions of the New Sociology of Development, neo-Marxist sociology, Latin American Development Theories and neo-Schumpeterian theories of innovation. It sets out from the general hypothesis that a multidimensional understanding of the growth of an innovative profile industrial sector cannot be obtained exclusively through quantitative analyses of the economic behavior of the agents who participate in it, but requires examining the involvement of each protagonist along the industry’s evolutionary path, with emphasis on the links that define each one’s actions. I consider the State and entrepreneurs as institutional actors whose actions significantly affect the conditions of differential economic growth and the innovative character of production that can be observed in various sectors, especially those with innovative profiles. The theoretical reconstruction presented herein was developed through an extensive, preparatory empirical analysis of the growth of the Software and IT Services Sector in the city of Cordoba, Argentina, over the past two decades. In a broader horizon, a complex examination of these features makes it possible to analyze sectoral growth patterns that depend on wider development patterns at the local and national levels.
