The article deals with two theoretical questions: How does the female subject constitute? How can that subjective experience be accessed? To reflect upon these questions, it is necessary to discuss what has been said about females in the social science around three core concepts: gender identity, motherhood and the public-private pair, as elements of the hegemonic model of femininity. At the end of this discussion, we propose the need to include located analysis and integration of other categories in the theoretical dialogues like professional work from the public view -and not as “extra-domestic”-, as an organizing axis of the female gender identities of professional working women.
