This article discusses the origin, in its formation, of the mexican episcopate during the years 1920-1924, period in which an important recomposition in the Catholic hierarchy structure is observed after remain in exile before the outbreak of the revolution. In this ecclesial reconstruction process, the Holy See participated significantly in the interest of regain control of the mexican Church and revitalize an ecclesiastical body affected by the deaths of several bishops, the old age of others and the disinterest of several more. This framework served as the favorable scenario for the rise of prelates from college Pio Latino Americano of Rome to the national episcopacy which injected a refreshing air to the hierarchy who showed strong leadership to lead the catholic Church during these years.

The archbishops José María y del Río, from México, and Francisco Orozco y Jimenez, from Guadalajara were the main protagonists of this reorganization which suffered the hierarchy and also the most eloquent representatives of the generation of pío latinos prelates that showed his allegiance to Rome endorsing the motto of social Catholicism: restore the Christian social order.
