HERNANDEZ-CRUZ, Marina Jossabeth et al. Floristic study of the Cerro Metecatl, of mountain complex Tetzcutzingo, Texcoco, state of México, México. Bot. sci [online]. 2016, vol.94, n.2, pp.377-392. ISSN 2007-4476.  https://doi.org/10.17129/botsci.240.

Floristic studies provide information for detailed plant items in a region. It was performed a floristic study in the cerro Metecatl, Estado de México; were described vegetation types and characterized microsites by counting species in 18 sampling units; we analyzed the influence of altitude, orientation and inclination on the floristic composition at the site through multivariate analysis. There were 73 families, 211 genera and 274 species. 62 species are added to the list of Tetzcutzingo. We registered 201 native species and seven endemics for the Valley of Mexico. Species richness is lower in Metecatl regarding Tetzcutzingo, which is related to agricultural activities and environmental factors (humidity, slope, aspect and altitude). We recognized three types of vegetation: Pinus-Quercus forest, scrub Eysenhardtia polystachya and grassland. The cluster analysis differentiated into two groups the Sampling Units, according to the similarity of shared species. The canonical correspondence analysis indicate floristic differences among sites located in the slope north-northeast with respect to the south-southwest side. These results confirm the great floristic richness and of microsites, that together Metecatl and Tetzcutzingo maintain, as an ecological reserve, what becomes relevant to the apparent loss of biodiversity in the municipality of Texcoco.
