Resumen

MUNOZ-LUMBRERAS, Eddy Gabriel et al. Laparoscopic single-site nephrectomy with concomitant cholecystectomy: A case report. Rev. mex. urol. [online]. 2019, vol.79, n.5, e08.  Epub 24-Nov-2020. ISSN 2007-4085.

Laparoendoscopic single-site surgery (LESS) offers the advantages of reduced surgical trauma, LESS postoperative pain, the need for fewer analgesics, and excellent cosmetic results. Single-site surgery provides the opportunity to combine procedures within the same surgical session.

A 59-year-old woman had a history of left renal colic and recurrent urinary tract infections, as well as episodes of biliary colic for a long period of time, which were treated symptomatically. A tomography scan revealed an atrophic left kidney, with no contrast medium uptake, and concomitant biliary tree pathology. She underwent nephrectomy and cholecystectomy with the LESS technique, with adequate surgical and cosmetic results.

The LESS technique is a viable option in the minimally invasive management of different pathologies. The simultaneous performance of surgical procedures through the same approach could prevent the need for another hospitalization and additional surgery. Performing the procedure through a single port provides adequate cosmetic results and enables distant anatomic sites to be approached through the same incision.
