Abstract

SANTOS-MORENO, Antonio  and  RUIZ-VELASQUEZ, Elder. Diversidad de mamíferos de la región de Nizanda, Juchitán, Oaxaca, México. Therya [online]. 2011, vol.2, n.2, pp.155-168. ISSN 2007-3364.  https://doi.org/10.12933/therya-11-30.

In this paper we present an inventory of mammals from the region of Nizanda, Juchitán, Oaxaca. The field work was made from April 2007 to February 2008. A total of 7 orders, 17 families and 40 species were recorded. Ten of the collected species are included in some risk category according to national and international standards. The most abundant species was the bat Choeroniscusgodmani, and the order Carnivora was the most diverse, with 12 species. The three types of vegetation in the area and an ecotone between two of them show little similarity in species composition, this can explain the high species richness of the region.
