The mammal of the state of Hidalgo, Mexico, is little known, with the objective of contributing to the knowledge of the richness of the mammals of this state, we compiled information from the records of mammal species distributed in the state through an intensive search in international and national scientific collections, and literature. The mastofaunistic composition of the state is represented by eight orders, 27 families, 85 genera and 154 species, of which 19 are endemic to Mexico and 30 are in a risk category. We report six new records of mammal species for the state. This study places the state of Hidalgo in fifth place at national level in terms of richness of mammals.
