Resumen

SILVA, Marcos Antonio Batista da. Academic discourses and anti-racism in a Peruvian university. Rev. iberoam. educ. super [online]. 2022, vol.13, n.38, pp.105-122.  Epub 27-Mar-2023. ISSN 2007-2872.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iisue.20072872e.2022.38.1514.

This article offers a reflection about the discourses of race and racism in the field of social sciences and education. For this purpose, the authors interviewed members of the academic community (teachers and students) of a public university in the city of Lima, Peru. To approach what are the predominant discourses on the study of racism in the university, they used a theoretical-methodological framework based on the theory of race and racism and Van Dijk’s critical discourse analysis model. The results show that the discussion on racism is introductory and has been a demand of students, especially Afro-Peruvians who, through workshops, seek to break the traditional silencing dynamics of the matter. In general, the academic debate has prioritized the cultural diversity present in Peru and interculturality.
