Abstract

MONROY-CELY, Daniel-Alejandro. Towards a practical and globalized legal education in Colombia. Rev. iberoam. educ. super [online]. 2018, vol.9, n.26, pp.130-152. ISSN 2007-2872.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iisue.20072872e.2018.26.301.

The problems that the training of lawyers in Colombia are currently facing are relatively well identified and are even part of the government's higher education agenda. However, the strategies and proposed solutions to these problems are still precarious and insufficient. In this regard, the paper proposes that an important part of these problems can be effectively addressed by promoting and deepening a more globalized and practical legal education in law schools. For this purpose, the document is based on more general diagnoses related to legal education in Latin America and the rest of the world, in an attempt to provide a preliminary basis for a more in-depth discussion of the type of training law students receive in Colombia.
