Abstract
MULONE, María-Virginia. Professional identity construction process of English translators. Rev. iberoam. educ. super [online]. 2016, vol.7, n.19, pp.152-166. ISSN 2007-2872.
With the pursuit of exploring the perceptions English translators have about their own identity as professionals and the evolution of such representation ever since college entrance up to graduation and labor integration, interviews and surveys to Translation freshmen and senior students, and graduated translators, involving the disciplinary and instrumental expertise of professional translators, assignments, roles, contexts, and working relations. The conclusion was that their representations have evolved from a scattered and wrongful conception of the implications of being and working as a translator, to a more defined and realistic one. It was suggested that a key aspect of such evolution takes place during college.
