A report of the results of a research conducted with the purpose of analyzing the representations among psychology students regarding the social image of psychology and its professional identity. A qualitative and interpretive methodology was used from a psychosocial perspective. The more significant findings show that students believe that society has a stereotypical image of psychology, they claim its social recognition or ignorance is due to the cultural, social and economic capital of people, they positively appreciate the professional development and identity of psychology. Some consider that their expectations were met during their professional training; others have doubts about their professional skills.
