MUNOZ GOMEZ, María Elizabeth. The Workers' Housing of the Paper Factory of Loreto, Mexico: Industrial Heritage in Danger of Extinction. Intervención (Méx. DF) [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.10, pp.30-46. ISSN 2007-249X.
The workers' settlement of the paper factory in Loreto, Mexico, is an invaluable social evidence in which time and space come together, dimensions that form unique characteristics in the urban fabric of our capital city. This INVESTIGATION reflects the extraordinary process of construction of the workers' housing of Loreto as an architectonic and cultural heritage organised around an industrial setting. However, the heritage value of the settlement is under threat from the transformation and destruction caused by the surge of real estate development within its surroundings. This article seeks to stimulate interest amongst the inhabitants of Mexico City and those people living in other latitudes, to increment knowledge and appreciation for one of the few surviving examples of the industrial past of the Mexican capital.
