Different climate change scenarios predict an increase in temperature and decreased precipitation in middle latitudes, the area in which lies the north of Mexico. Studies for the Mexican Republic, obtained by downscaling from global circulation models, predict this trend especially in the Northwest region of Mexico. However, given the difficulties of modelling at hydrologic regions or basins scales, it is necessary the analysis of observed trends, in order to support on facts this climatic behavior. Nonparametric methods, usually used in this analysis, show limitations, so in this paper we propose the use of various methods that together allow arrive, with greater certainty, to the existence, if any, of climate trends. In this paper, climate records of the climatologic stations in the lower basin of the Yaqui River are analyzed. We found clear trends of increased temperature, but not in the case of precipitation, in which is not yet observed a significant trend.
