DEL TORO-GUERRERO, Francisco José; KRETZSCHMAR, Thomas y HINOJOSA-CORONA, Alejandro. Hydric Balance in a Semi-Arid Basin, El Mogor, Baja California, Mexico. Tecnol. cienc. agua [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.6, pp.69-81. ISSN 2007-2422.
The research was conducted in the sub-basin El Mogor in the Valle de Guadalupe (VG) in BC, Mexico. In which an integral characterization was performed with the objective of doing a quantification of the hydrogeologic contribution; from the sub-basin toward the valley in the hydrological year 2010-2011. This region has a semiarid climate and it carries out agricultural activities of great importance, where stands viticulture. As part of the characterization, we established the unsaturated hydraulic conductivity using the Kozeny-Carman equation (KC). Also took out the calculation of the potential evapotranspiration (ETP) in the region using the Thornthwaite method (Thw), which was compared to the potential evaporation (EP) estimated by Penman tray (CHP) and the ETP calculated with the CICESE station whose program uses the Penman-Monteith equation for their calculation. A water balance was conducted (Almorox, 2003) using the result of the ETP Thw and precipitation data (P), with which we obtained a generalized potential infiltration (I) sub-basin ~974 000 m3 and a runoff (Es) of ~86.000 m3. Likewise, the superficial runoff was determined through the use of a thin-walled triangular weir, where a volume of ~60 000 m3 was estimated. Finally, using empirical formulae we calculated a recharge (vertical, mountain system, horizontal recharge and irrigation water percolation) of ~466 000 m3 which was equivalent to 7% of rainfall in the hydrological year in study.
