Abstract

HERNANDEZ-RODRIGUEZ, Humberto  and  NAVAR-CHAIDEZ, José de Jesús. Discharge patterns of rivers in Michoacán, Mexico. Tecnol. cienc. agua [online]. 2010, vol.1, n.1, pp.153-159. ISSN 2007-2422.

This paper analyzes trends and magnitude changes in discharge of twelve gauging stations in the State of Michoacán, Mexico. Daily discharge data were fed to the RORA computer program for separating quick and base flow. Simple lineal regression and the Man-Kendall test evaluated discharge tendencies and the sine test computed the magnitude of change. From the gauging stations analyzed, 40% are having reduced flows and 16% are showing increased flows. The results provide an index of the climatic and anthropogenic factors that are controlling the production of discharge in rivers of the State of Michoacán.

Keywords : discharge changes; human pressure; watershed degradation.
