SAUCEDO CORONA, Alma Rosa et al. Impact of electric charge density of the system in the structure of paper. Rev. mex. de cienc. forestales [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.28, pp.142-155. ISSN 2007-1132.

The new challenges in the use of paper demand response properties which can be achieved with the addition of chemicals into the fiber structure. The aim of this study was to provide knowledge of the colloidal behavior that integrates the residual chemicals system in the fiber suspension and its neutralization, to lessen its negative impact on new chemicals that enhance the uniform distribution of fibers increasing the response properties of the paper. The fibrous raw material used in this study was Kraft paper from the first recycling and Kraft paper from n recycling cycle in a ratio of 50 % each one. Neutralizing of electrical charge density is carried out with polyacrylamide high charge density (sweeper). The electric charge density of the fibrous suspension was modified during the paper structuring by dispensing flocculant with different molecular weight and electric charge density; this property was evaluated with the electric charge density technique (MÜtek), as response property was evaluated in laboratory standard sheets with 60 gm-2 fiber distribution is accepted as formation of the sheet of paper, this evaluation was performed with image analysis techniques, while the effect on the physical properties are evaluated according to TAPPI techniques. The addition of 0.1 % of low molecular weight flocculant reported 69.3 % uniformly distribution area, while the tensile strength was increased by 12 %. This means that the application of low molecular weight with high electric charge density registered a better response ability.

Palavras-chave : Electric charge density; fiber distribution; structuring of paper sheet; recycled fiber; flocculant; post- consumption paper recycling.
