Resumen

TOLEDO GONZALEZ, Sandra Luz et al. Water quality in the micro-basins of the Sierra de Quila Natural Protected Area in Jalisco. Rev. mex. de cienc. forestales [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.26, pp.112-123. ISSN 2007-1132.

The need to establish a better integral management of natural resources is addressed by regarding micro-basins as Planning and Management Units. Within this context, a diagnosis was made of the water of the micro-basins of the Sierra de Quila Natural Protected Area, which is a pine-oak forest that provides water for the town of Tecolotán, in the state of Jalisco. Ten monitoring stations were selected in the micro-basins of the Santa Rosa river; water samples were taken before, during and after the rainy season. These samples were subjected to physicochemical and bacteriological tests. The physicochemical analysis of the 27 samples showed that the water meets the Irrigation Standard; on the other hand, the maximum values established by the Standard for the water to be considered fit for human consumption were exceeded in all nine sites. The bacteriological analysis detected the presence of aerobic mesophiles and total coliforms in all the samples, as well as fecal coliforms in at least one of the samples from each site. Based on the results obtained, joint resolutions were recommended to the agents that participate in the use and management of the Sierra de Quila Natural Protected Area.
