Resumen

PEREZ LOPEZ, Delfina de Jesús et al. Analysis of 35 broad bean cultivars for its production of green pod and other yield components. Rev. Mex. Cienc. Agríc [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.7, pp.1601-1613. ISSN 2007-0934.

Broad bean cultivation in Valles Altos from central Mexico, to produce green or dry pod, it is important for people of limited resources. This study was carried in autumn-winter 2011 in San Francisco Oxtotilpan and spring-summer 2012 in San Nicolas Guadalupe and in San Diego, Mexico, to evaluate 35 broad bean cultivars in a randomized complete block design with three replications per location. In the 12 evaluated variables highly significant differences among cultivars, between localities and in their interaction were detected. San Diego recorded the highest averages in the characteristics of the seed, pod, greenness index, in leaflets per leaf and green yield (RV). The cultivars with higher RV were identified as 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 20, 31, 32 and 35 (11.15 to 12.83 t ha-1). The main components 1 (35%) and 2 (21.7%) accounted for 56.7% of the original total variation; number of pods, seed weight per plant and seed size contributed to a higher RV and these variables could be used in a breeding program as criteria for indirect selection to increase yield and green yield components.
