GUTIERREZ RODRIGUEZ, Francisco et al. Compaction of a Vertisol due to transit and different weight of tractors. Rev. Mex. Cienc. Agríc [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.4, pp.803-813. ISSN 2007-0934.
Soil compaction is one of the most important areas of research for environmental protection worldwide. The soil compaction problems occur frequently in areas where we have an extensive and intensive agricultural mechanization. In this regard, this study aims to determine the degree of compaction caused by tractor traffic with different systems of shooting, weight and inflating the tires in a Vertisol. For this purpose three types of road traffic were tested (3, 5 and 10 strokes of tractors with different weights). The specific average pressure of one of the tractors led to an increase in the degree of compaction but, beginning at 5 passes traffic, the impact was minimal. The tractor formula 4 x 4 running on the system least altered the degree of compaction in the topsoil. A linear relationship between the average specific pressure tractors and increasing the degree of compaction in most of the variants tested.
