ESQUIVEL HIGUERA, Vicente  e  JASSO GARCIA, Yesenia. Spatial distribution and mapping of armyworm in six localities in the State of Mexico, in 2011. Rev. Mex. Cienc. Agríc [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.6, pp.923-935. ISSN 2007-0934.

This research shows the use of geostatistics to analyze the spatial distribution of armyworm Mythimna unipunct; which is associated with high economic losses in the production of graminea mainly in Zea mays L. The study was carried out in maize on 6 localities from the municipalities of Apaxco and Tequixquiac in the State of Mexico, in 2011. Sampling was performed by geographic location with a GPSmap60. 110 points were taken by locality presenting armyworm damage. With geostatistical analysis experimental semivariograms were estimated and fitted to a theoretical model with the program Variowin 2.2, determining that the gaussian and spherical models, were present in the study sites. Its setting was validated through cross validation with geostatistics interpolation or kriging. Aggregation maps of the plague were developed with the use of geostatistical software surfer 8.0. Achieving determine the areas of highest incidence, which went from moderate to strong. With the distance index, SADIE allowed to characterize the spatial pattern of the given variable in the study area, which was added.
