Resumen

SANCHEZ LOPEZ, Diana Beatriz; GOMEZ-VARGAS, Ruth Milena; GARRIDO RUBIANO, María Fernanda  y  BONILLA BUITRAGO, Ruth Rebeca. Inoculation with plant growth promoting bacteria on tomato under greenhouse conditions. Rev. Mex. Cienc. Agríc [online]. 2012, vol.3, n.7, pp.1401-1415. ISSN 2007-0934.

The increase in world population has also increased the demand for food and so does the demand for chemical fertilizers which are not only costly but also pollutants. The aim of this paper was to evaluate the effect of applying several candidate strains to plant growth promoters on growth and yield of tomato. The study was conducted in 2010, Tibaitatá Research Center (Corpoica) located in Mosquera (Cundinamarca, Colombia). The strains used were TVL-1 and TVL-2 identified as Enterobacter sp., also the strains Pseudomonas sp. PSO13, PSO14, and Bacillus sp. BEOO2 and BEOO3. The results demonstrated the intrinsic ability of the strains to solubilize a poorly soluble phosphorus source where the use of the strains TVL-1, TVL-2 and PSO14 showed the best results. The strains TVL-1, TVL-2 and PSO13 had phosphatase activity. Additionally, the bacteria were able to produce siderophore and indoles under the conditions evaluated. The greenhouse experiment showed that, the strains PSO14 and TVL-2 significantly increased biomass and plant development (p< 0.05) as well as fruit yield production that can be associated with biochemical capabilities associated with promotion of plant growth evaluated in the laboratory.
