FLORES NAVEDA, Antonio; VAZQUEZ BADILLO, Mario Ernesto; BORREGO ESCALANTE, Fernando  y  SANCHEZ ASPEYTIA, David. Analysis of the homogeneity, distinction and stability of three improved varieties of tomato. Rev. Mex. Cienc. Agríc [online]. 2011, vol.2, n.1, pp.5-16. ISSN 2007-0934.

The description of the variety of vegetables is a distinctive feature of plants or parts of plants, in which different distinction, uniformity patterns are observed that help characterize and distinguish a plant population that make up a variety. The adequate identification of plant material guarantees that the variety acquired has desirable characteristics, as well as helping the successful operation of national schemes for the certification of seeds by means of an adequate identification of variety. In this investigation, the variety description was carried out, in order to register the tomato varieties AN-Ti1 (F3), AN-Td1 (R1) and AN-Td4 (Q3), which were generated in the physiotechnical breeding program of the Antonio Narro Autonomous Agrarian University. Evaluations were carried out in 2005 and 2006 in open field conditions in La Paila, Ramos Arizpe and Buenavista, Coahuila. Observations were made on 20 plants, taking each one as a repetition in three varieties of the tomato breeding program and in two test varieties. The variety description was made using the UPOV guide for tomato (TG/44/10). Results showed that in the quantitative descriptors there were highly significant differences (p≤ 0.01); for descriptors, the number of inflorescences and length of the internode in the sources of locations and varieties, as well as for the length of leaves and the length of the abscission layer, indicated that they are infuenced by the environment, since the environmental factors influenced in the phonological and physiological processes of the crop. There were no statistical differences found in other characteristics, indicating that the varieties are stable, due to their lower genotype-environment interaction.
