GUEVARA ROMERO, María Lourdes; TELLEZ MORALES, María Blanca Rosa  and  FLORES LUCERO, María de Lourdes. Sustainable use of natural resources from the perspective of indigenous communities: Sierra Norte of Puebla. Nova scientia [online]. 2015, vol.7, n.14, pp.511-537. ISSN 2007-0705.

The life of every individual is given specific spaces in a natural environment with which it will interact. The form of ownership and use of their environment has certain specific features that address beliefs, individual and shared practices that run and operate in a territory in space and time. In the process of evolution and development of the indigenous communities there are several studies that have addressed the issue under different disciplines, in this paper the vision of sustainability is analyzed in compression and ancestral use of natural resources in areas where indigenous communities predominate, analyzing the characteristics of changes in land use and vegetation under the forms of appropriation of the territory from the customs that have generated these communities that inhabit the Sierra Norte of Puebla.

Keywords : Sustainability; land use change and vegetation; indigenous communities and geographic information systems.
