FUENTES PEREZ, Carlos Alberto. Urban heat islands in Tampico, Mexico: Impact of microclimate on the habitat quality. Nova scientia [online]. 2015, vol.7, n.13, pp.495-515. ISSN 2007-0705.
Of all the climatic changes caused by urban cities, thermal changes are best known by the citizens. The study of the transformation on the natural spaces of the city shows that it has great production value thanks to its environmental conditions, and its urban climatology. Every urbanization process consists of substituting the soil and natural areas, for constructed floors with low reflectivity, less absorption of water, and a favorable thermic behavior for the storage and emission of heat. These elements contribute to the understanding of the atmospheric temperature of the city, compared to its less populated areas, through a phenomenon known as urban heat islands. This condition produces a microclimate impact on habitat quality. To sum it up, this experimental research aims to demonstrate, the methodology adopted for urban heat islands in Tampico, Mexico.
