Resumen

DUHAMEL, Francois  y  DURAN ENCALADA, Jorge A.. Degree of Customization of Logistics Services: Service Priorities and Performance. Nova scientia [online]. 2015, vol.7, n.13, pp.286-313. ISSN 2007-0705.

Introduction: The purpose of this article is to analyze the relationship between the type of logistics services required, supply chain priorities and performance for freight management in terms of cost and service. The study develops two hypotheses in this study: the first one about the link between freight characteristics and the type of logistics services that freight requires and the second one about the impact of the alignment between the types of logistics services required and supply chain priorities on service performance. Method: The hypotheses were tested using chi-squared distribution test with data from an empirical survey of 125 Mexican companies in Mexico's Central-South region. Results: The results revealed a significant association between the level of customization of logistics services, the priorities set by companies in selecting their logistics services provider and service performance. Conclusion: The selection of the level of customization of services is to be made according to logistics priorities in the specific context of Mexico, where the quality of the implementation of the logistics services and an efficient infrastructure cannot be taken for granted.
