Resumen

PALACIOS, Víctor Hugo. The Body, the Face and the Identity of Self. Notes on Human Corporality in a Time of Transformations. En-clav. pen [online]. 2019, vol.13, n.25, pp.35-56. ISSN 2594-1100.

The body has been a permanent object of intellectual hostility and social concern. Merleau-Ponty defended its priority in the understanding of the self versus rationalism. However, our time makes its features more imprecise and arbitrary when subjects to the productive and changing requirements of the consumerism and digital virtuality, questioning the identity of the self. The face especially suffers this commotion on the threshold of a posthumanist society. This work includes some philosophical reflections linked to sociological and interdisciplinary considerations, in search of a broad understanding of the body as an essential place of individuality.

Palabras llave : body; face; human being; identity; society; consumerism; digital virtuality.
