HERNANDEZ, Nalliely. Science in a Literary Culture or the Unbearable Transcendence of Being Scientific. En-clav. pen [online]. 2018, vol.12, n.23, pp.43-66. ISSN 2594-1100.
The pragmatist perspective of Richard Rorty involves rethinking scientific progress in cultural development. He suggests avoiding ontological and methodological distinctions between scientific and no-scientific languages. Accordingly, science is integrated in the culture as a completely historical and contextual discourse. These ideas joined to the Rortian suggestion to motivate and to promote a literary culture allow and request a re-description of science. In this paper, I will reconstruct and deepen in the conception of science in the literary culture that Rorty imagined. I will argue that the science as a literary genre shows advantages to its philosophical interpretation as well as to the perspective provided for the cultural development and social improvement.
