LEGORRETA ZEPEDA, José de Jesús. When the Community Does not common: Contemporary Debates on the "Failure" of Being in Common. En-clav. pen [online]. 2017, vol.11, n.22, pp.75-107. ISSN 2594-1100.
The community has been understood in social sciences and political philosophy as a form of belonging, linked to some kind of essence, value or structure. Yet, the changes deriving from globalization and pluralism, coupled with the violence exhibited in the name of the community, have demonstrated its collapse and, with it, of all the assumptions in which the West has imagined and designed various ways of sociality (polis, family, nation, church, etcetera). In this text, such a complex dilemma is exposed in view of the contemporary sociological, anthropological, and philosophical debates about the topic.
