Resumen

RAMIREZ GONZALEZ, Esteban. "Sola fides, sola scriptura". La disputa de Leipzig y el rompimiento de Martín Lutero con la Iglesia romana (1517-1521). En-clav. pen [online]. 2014, vol.8, n.15, pp.147-170. ISSN 2594-1100.

This essay addresses the 'The Leipzig Dispute' (1519) and its impact on the confrontation between Martin Luther and the Roman Church (1517-1521). It evaluates the importance of this event in the development of Lutheran thought- in particular, the challenge to pontifical authority implicit in his theology, the radicalisation of his position before the Roman Church, and the motivation to reach the final break. Setting the historical context of the Dispute, this essay also traces the development and importance of Lutheran theology through each of the defining moments leading to the break with the Roman Church, thus illustrating the role of individual agency in historical development.
