This work reviews Alexander Luria's proposal about the superior psyche functions. Luria adopts the term complex functional systems to refer to those superior functions which brain location is layered and dynamic. This conception allow us to understand a variety of clinical phenomena that couldn't be explained through the concept of narrowed localization, one of the proposals about psyche function of brain organization. The special characteristic of being human is experiencing substantial alterations of cortical organization from the presence and impact of language and practice of cultural activity. From Luria's reflections, we understand the need for a multidisciplinary approach in the examination, diagnosis, and treatment in humans of the superior psyche functions, very complex synthesis of the permanent interaction between the development of the nervous system anatomophysiological field, and incalculable dimension of human culture.
